BNSF Railway train Z-STOWSP8-14A rounds the first curve in about 13 miles as it begins its assault on the Tehachapi Mountains. BNSF ES44C4 6889, ES44AC 6000 and ET44C4 3958 are hauling 41 loaded cars, stretching for 3,903-feet, from Stockton, in California's San Joaquin Valley, to Willow Springs, Illinois. In the process, the train is leaving the Valley's verdant farms behind for a long trip across the Mojave Desert, and the chaparral of the American southwest after that, before hitting farms again in the Midwest.
