Last October, the Rhaetian Railway parked the 6 ABe 4/4 # 51 to # 56 railcars on the Bernina line. As a result, during the summer half-year, when the various Bernina Express trains are running, there is now an average shortage of around 2 “Allegra” dual-current railcars (ZTZ) to cover all services, especially on the Bernina and to Arosa. For this reason, push-pull trains with Ge 4/4 IIs are now used between Chur and Arosa, and freight trains are also operated with two Ge 4/4 IIs. Freight train 5435 fromChur to Arosa is heading uphill between Peist and Langwies with Ge 4/4 II # 617 and # 618 in multiple control and three loaded Fac gravel cars. Train load is about 140 tons on up to 6.0 % grade.
