The Final Farewell. The last train to cross over the 1875 former Erie Railroad bridge in Portageville, New York would ultimately be I2K, with Norfolk Southern 6953 (SD60E) in the lead. At approximately 0145 on the morning of Monday, December 11, 2017, we catch a view of it from the new bridge. There were only a pair of witnesses to over 150 years of history ending at this early morning hour, but it was recorded for posterity. A few hours later, all train traffic would shift to the new bridge and not long afterward the vintage structure would be demolished.
