Single-Track, Bi-Level. On the evening of August 6, 2021, South Shore Line Train 119 with NICD 303 (Highliner II, Nippon Sharyo, 2008–2009) leading a four-car set was passing St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Church on the corner of Buffalo and West 11th Streets in Michigan City, Indiana as the sun was setting both on the scene and street running service. On May 1, 2021, service to the 11 Street Station had was discontinued, followed by a suspension of through revenue passenger service on these tracks. While the Insull era South Shore building was demolished in February, 2022, the historic terra cotta facade has been reportedly preserved to be included in a mixed purposed development to include commercial and residential space at this site. On October 15, 2023, NICTD announced that passenger service would resume over the newly constructed separated double-track line in Michigan City, Indiana on October 25, 2023 as progress on the Double Track NWI project proceeds.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
