On August 10, a northbound freight train derailed in the 57-kilometer-long Gotthard Base Tunnel, and since then both tubes have been closed. All passenger traffic, as well as freight traffic that can pass through the smaller profile, travels via the Gotthard mountain route, today also called the panorama route. Intercity tilting train ICN RABDe 500 # 017 of the SBB is crossing the highest bridge of the SBB, the 77 meter high Intschireuss bridge between Gurtnellen and Amsteg-Silenen, running as IC 10870 of the line IC2 from Lugano via Bellinzona-Arth Goldau-Zug to Zürich. The 121 meter long bridge was new built in concrete in 1975, replacing the truss bridge of 1882.
