The conductor of Union Pacific train LOA32, the Costa Mesa Local, waves to students walking to the Olive Street Elementary School as the train rolls at 5 miles-per-hour down the center of (wait for it…) Olive Street. This train, comprised of UP GP60 1083 (ex-UP 1953; née-SSW 9651) and GP40-2 1375 (ex-SP GP40P-2 7602, née-SP GP40P-2 3199) has 13 cars in tow (5 tank cars; 5 box cars; 3 centerbeams), some of which will be taken to industries here in Anaheim (the box cars are heading to International Paper and loaded centerbeams will go to Ganahl Lumber), and the tank cars will be taken to Santa Ana's Behr Paint. Olive is the second street this train has operated down this morning, as it trundled down Santa Ana Street and then made a hard right to get here. (Anaheim, California – January 18, 2023)
