On Christmas Eve, RAe 4/8 # 1021 "Churchill-Arrow" made the traditional evening trip with fine food and drink. The trip led from Zurich via Wallisellen-Winterthur-Andelfingen-Rheinfallbrücke-Schaffhausen to Etzwilen, and back via Ossingen-Winterthur-Wallisellen to Zurich again. On the bridge over the Rhine from 1856, above the Rhine fall, the "Churchill-Pfeil" made a stop for some minutes. This year, the illumination of the Rhine fall, the bridge and of the Churchill-Pfeil as well was very much minimized in order not to waste electric power unnecessarily. On the right is the Laufen castle.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
