Blue Hour at Washago. Detour days are back? Not quite, but after being outlawed earlier in the morning, 106 had backed its long string of stacks up the Newmarket Sub and tied down sometime around 03:00. With a new crew on board just before sunrise, they're waiting on the approaching 313 to clear on the Bala Sub, which is right on the heels of morning hotshots 111 and 115. Although the Newmarket Sub only sees North Bay bound manifest trains 450/451 run Mon-Sat, the dispatcher on the Bala does use the Newmarket Sub for meets and crew changes from time, making this a unique experience. The last time stacks ran on the Newmarket Sub was back in February of 2020 when blockades on the Kingston Sub sent trains on the "scenic" route through north eastern Ontario and Quebec.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
