“Nine Score and Four Years Ago” Northern Central Railway’s “York” hauls a four coach passenger train south through Seitzville on the return leg of a Howard Tunnel excursion on November 19, 2022.
Rebranded from “Steam Into History”, the Northern Central Railway of York is a heritage railroad that operates excursion trains on a 15-mile segment of the former PRR-controlled Northern Central Railway between New Freedom and Brilhart Station, using this replica Civil War-era equipment, as well as two first generation EMD diesels.
With apologies to Mr. A. Lincoln, the title refers to the completion of the railroad through this area in 1838, by the York & Maryland Line Railroad, but operated by the Baltimore & Susquehanna Railroad (later the Northern Central Railway).
