Union Pacific Costa Mesa Local LOA32 heads south on Metrolink’s Orange Sub, on which it operates from Anaheim to Santa Ana, at which point it switches back to UP trackage. UP GP60 1083 (ex-UP 1953, nee-SSW 9651) and GP40P-2 1375 (ex-SP 7602, née-SP 3199) are hauling 9 cars down to an industrial complex in southern Santa Ana, (This train, while known as the Costa Mesa Local, no longer goes to Costa Mesa since the Los Angeles Times shuttered their printing plant there in 2010 and the trackage was removed). This train operates twice per week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings. (Orange, California – November 9, 2022)
