A southbound mixed freight passes the AN 744 milepost as it approaches Iron City, Georgia which is located in the far southwestern part of the state. The tiny community of 300 was named after a discovery of iron ore during the drilling of a well. Unfortunately, the boom from the iron ore discovery never materialized and the town remains a small part of Seminole County to this day.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
