Pennsy On Central. On the night of Tuesday, August 9, 2022, CSX M704-09 (Oak Point, NY-Selkirk, NY) passed through the MTA Metro-North Railroad Spuyten Duyvil Station with CSX 8881 leading (SD40-2 , ex-Conrail 6326/6991, née-Pennsylvania Railroad 6073, SD40, EMD, 2/1966). The trailing unit, CSX 468 (AC44CW) is a class that has become far more common here, so catching the EMD leader was a bit lucky. This train is a daily turn to bring refuse, lumber, food, construction debris, plastic pellets and other products to and from New York City as the sole daily manifest road train to serve the 5 boroughs, and also the only one to serve the former New York Central Railroad Hudson Line. CSX recently renamed its trains, in this case redesigning the mixed manifest consists from Q to M.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
