2-6-2 T steamlocomotive class 32a # 288 of the Norwegian State Railways/Norges Statsbaner (NSB) in the Norsk Railwaymuseum in Hamar. The locomotive was built by Hamar Jernstøberi & Mek. Verksted in 1915 (construction # 101) with a driving wheel diameter of 1600 mm and 75 km/h maximum velocity. The locomotive was designed for assistance service on the Dovre railway, and was the country's only tank locomotive type designed for fast trains. However, the initial application was for local trains on the Drammen railway and the Vosse railway. After Hamar Jernstøberi had delivered seven locomotives in 1915, a larger series was ordered from Baldwin Locomotive Works. These 14 locomotives, designated 32b and c, were delivered in 1917-1919. Finally, Svenska Järnvägsverkstäderna in Falun delivered three locomotives of type 32a in 1921 to the Bratsbergbanen. Except in local trains, type 32 was used in heavy shunting service.
The American-built ones were first decommissioned, most of them in the second half of the 1950s. # 288 belonged to the Trondheim, Drammen, Hamar and Oslo districts during its service life and was decommissioned on 21 April 1969. The locomotive came to the museum in 1975.
