Not Technically Anything, Actually. Amtrak Train 864 was running along the shores of the Harlem River on the way to Grand Central Terminal as it also parallels the relatively new pipes and railing on the river side on June 16, 2022. This extensive storm hardening was planned after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Operating as a requalification run for Amtrak crew, this was the last day of the crews doing their annual training on this territory. The P42DC functions as a cab car and has its engine shut down as the train enters and exits GCT on the 3rd rail powered P32. The train is passing the Metro-North Railroad Marble Hill Station. The mendacious falsehood that this is the Bronx has almost is repeated so often that it is believed even by many who live there, when informed that it is actually Manhattan, the common response is “well, technically”. The community of Marble Hill has not moved, the Harlem River did, and this community is actually still very much part of New York County. A jury duty summons in 1984 received by an uninformed resident led the New York State Legislature to affirm this fact.
