To commemorate the Union Pacific employees who were also active military reservists, UP painted SD40-2 3593 (ex-UP 8084) into this distinctive camouflage scheme. A plaque listing all sixty-six of their employee/reservists who were called to active duty for "Operation Desert Storm" was installed on each side (with each side listing 33 employees). This engine wore this paint job from 2/27/91 to 10/11/91. The engine, teamed with UP SD40-2 3764 and Dash 8-40C 9260, is seen rounding the curve at the junction east of Barstow where the UP's Los Angeles Sub of the California Division joins Santa Fe's Needles Sub to get to Los Angeles (the UP splits off the Santa Fe again in Riverside).
