The current OmniTRAX Georgia & Florida Railway has a very long history, dating back to the late 1800's. A lot to cover, this portion of the line (south of Greenville, FL) is part of a 26-mile extension to Perry, FL that was once controlled by Norfolk Southern, but also had CSXT (until very recent years) sharing duties to the Georgia-Pacific plant at Foley, south of Perry. As of today, GFRR exclusively operates to/from Foley four days a week, alternating daytime runs in the fall/winter with nighttime runs spring/summer. Present interchange patterns with CSXT (where the train runs as Z409) have the trains originating in Quitman, GA, home to the original general offices of South Georgia Railway.
