Nearly 83 years after it opened (as Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal), the entrance foyer and the great hall of Los Angeles Union Station still looks fantastic. In fact, as someone who has been visiting this great station – "Where Los Angeles Begins" – since the 1960s, this station is cleaner and more vibrant than ever. This station sees 4 daily Amtrak long-distance trains per day (the Southwest Chief and Coast Starlight) – plus 2 more (the Sunset Limited) three times per week – along with up to 26 Pacific Surfliners each (non-pandemic) day, along with 102 Metrolink commuter trains each weekday on seven different lines (a few less on weekends) – along with a steady stream of LA Metro L Line light rail trains and B and D Line subways – LAUS is busier than it has ever been, and just as beautiful as on opening day in 1939!
