Blue Bridge, Blue Hour. On Friday, November 27, 2020, Norfolk Southern Corp 1700 (SD45-2, Erie Lackwanna Heritage) lead the return run of OI-16 from Browns Yard in Sayerville, New Jersey to Oak Island Yard in Newark, New Jersey over the "Blue Bridge" at Ernston Road in Parlin. While there has been significant reconstruction, historic markers in the area note that this approximates the route of the Camden and Amboy Rail Road. One of the last runs of 1700 leading all NS power, this unusual early run on a Friday was due to a backlog of cars after Conrail Shared Assets' traditional Thanksgiving shutdown. As only CSX units are equipped to lead over New Jersey Transit Newark Division Lines, this scene is one of the past.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
