A Unique Pair. Former Delaware & Hudson Railroad RS36 (SNEX) 5015 (Alco, 1/1963) has had many paint schemes over its years with the D&H and later Iowa Interstate, but it will forever be remembered for receiving the "experimental" blue and yellow from the Colonie Shop. Its new owner is in the process of restoring this phase of its appearance. BKRR 605 (ex-VTR 605, née-LHR 10, Alco RS3, 11/1950) has also had a few paint schemes in its life, but for many years has proudly displayed "Serving Washington County: The Batten Kill Railroad". The pair sit at the Cargill facility in Salem, New York on the evening of Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
