This train ran up the old Central of Georgia main from Albany to Smithville, where it swung onto the branch to Eufaula, AL, its destination. The track is good, so the engineer has his GP35 (a unit built for CofG with Blomberg trucks, unlike most Southern GP35s, which ride AAR Typ-Bs) opened-up on the hill-and-dale line.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
