Union Pacific train KAILC 02 (intermodal, Atlanta GA to Los Angeles CA) approaches the railroad’s West Colton Yard in Colton, California, on a hot (98º/36.67ºC) July 5, 2017, afternoon. But the weather isn’t the only thing that is hot, as this train is being led by Norfolk Southern SD70ACe 1074, the NS’s "Lackawanna Heritage" engine! The other diesels in the consist are NS SD60E 6913, UP SD70M 4192 and UP SD70M 4635. We were surprised that there were not more railfans on the Pepper Street overpass to record this engine, as four of the shadows in the foreground were all employees of a model railroad company that produces all four of the various locomotive models on this train. (I’ve forgotten to whom the fifth shadow belonged…)
