Summer In Shepherdstown. Norfolk Southern Corp Train 227 NS 1183 (SD70ACe/IAC) and 9541 (9-44CW/D9-44CW) cross the Potomac River from Sharpsburg, Maryland to Shepherdstown, West Virginia just before noon on August 20, 2019. This early 1900s truss bridge is a legacy Norfolk and Western Railway structure that was built as part of a realignment project on the Maryland side. While passenger service here ended in 1957, the Station at Shepherdstown still stands as a historic landmark and event space, and numerous freight trains cross on a daily basis.
