An Amtrak Regional Express leads a westbound through West Windsor, NJ on the Northeast Corridor, passing the out of service Nassau Tower. The tower, which no longer has the great unobstructed view it once had, was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad back in 1900.
Note the relatively new "Constant Tension Catenary Supports" and new catenary structures - part of Amtrak's High-Speed Rail Improvement Project announced in 2013, to be completed in late 2017. Err.. make that 2018. No... 2019. 2020? Hopefully this year. The project should allow Amtrak's new "Avelia Liberty" to reach speeds of 160 mph, vs 135 mph, over roughly 20 miles of track between New Brunswick and Hamilton, NJ.
