Four generations of LIRR railroad equipment line up at Riverhead on a beautiful autumn afternoon. On the far left is an LIRR EMD DE30AC, a NYAR GP38-2, a retired LIRR MP54 MU coach, a retired LIRR RS3 and G5s steam engine. The RS3 replaced the G5s, the GP38-2 replaced the RS3 and the DE30 replaced the GP38-2 in passenger service. The MP54 MU car would have coexisted in the era of both steam and first generation diesel.
