November 10th, 2020. Chattanooga, TN. The mid 1900’s in 2020?! On the right is Q580. On the left is Gp30 Seaboard 1030 sitting on the small rip track in Chattanooga, TN at “Tyner”. The Gp30, owned by Southern Appalachia Railroad Museum, aka “SARM” is on its way home to Oakridge TN. The engine served its time in Florida at the Orlando & North Western Railroad and is ready to return home. The Gp30 made its way from Florida to Nashville, then down to Chattanooga. The unit was paired with Walking Horse and Eastern, “TVRM 806” which was bought by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. The units were brought to “Tyner” so the CSX local could hand off 806 to TVRM. Now the Gp30 sits as it awaits for the CSX local to hand off the locomotive to Norfolk Southern so 1030 can return home in Oak Ridge.
