The Texas & Pacific constructed a through truss bridge across the Trinity River just west of downtown Dallas in 1930. Eighty-one years later, Union Pacific (which acquired Missouri Pacific, and its subsidiary T&P, in 1982) intermodal train IMQMX 16, travelling from Mesquite TX to Ciudad de México (Mexico City), México, crosses this span behind SD70Ms 3989 (ex-Southern Pacific 9814) and 4481. This train will cross the Rio Grande River into México at Laredo TX/Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas – roughly halfway to Ciudad de México. (Dallas, Texas – October 16, 2011)
