A 2nd Section of a Phoenix to Tucson manifest is taking quite a detour as they begin the climb of Beaumont Hill at Redlands. This train usually takes a pretty quick 120 miles trip on the Phoenix and Gila Subs, but due to a derailment and fire that took out the bridge at Tempe, they ended up on a pretty insanely long almost 1100 mile loop. BNSF crews took the train on the BNSF Phoenix Sub to Canyon Diablo, and then Seligman and Needles Subs from there to Daggett, where a UP crew took over and they took the BNSF Cajon and UP Mojave Subs to Slover. This fresh crew will take the train to Yuma via the Yuma Sub, where the Tucson crew will traverse the Gila Sub and finally get the Tucson a couple days late. With just 3 loads in the 82 car consist, they have an than usual climb up the grade here and make quick work to Beaumont.
