After over 20 years of planning and construction, the Reading and Northern has a direct link from their Reading to Lehigh Divisions with the new Lehigh River Bridge at Glen Onoko. The NRFF uses this new bridge to make their run from Reading to Pittston, where they used to drop their train in Jim Thorpe for pickup by the PIFF at night.
This bridge allows for more efficient freight movements across the railroad, as well as many daylight photo opportunities on the Lehigh Division. On this day, the NRFF crosses the new bridge with SD50 #5017 leading a pair of SD40-2s.
