4-6-2 "Pacific" steamlocomotive C57 # 1 of Japan Railway, operated by JR West, came with the 5 car "Yamaguchi SL" (Yamaguchi province steam train) from Shin-Yamaguchi to Tsuwano and is now beeing turned on the turntable. 201 locomotives of the C57 class were built from 1937 to 1947 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Rolling Stock Company, Kisha Seizō, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi for the Japan National Railway (JNR). Another 14 Class C57 locomotives were built for export to Taiwan in 1942 and 1953. Power output is 1290 Hp and maximum velocity 100 km/h (62 mph). The class was withdrawn from regular passenger workings in December 1975. About 32 have been preserved and two of them, # 1 and # 180, are operational for JR West and JR East. The C57 # 1 is owned by the Umekoji Steam Loconotive Museum of Kyoto.
