With their fluted side panels, Metra's F40C diesels were interesting beasts. At Tower B-12 in Franklin Park, Illinois, an inbound North Central Service commuter train is being shoved by F40C 612 (ex-NIRC 52, ex-MILW 52, nee-NWSMT 52) on Halloween 1999. The strong side lighting this morning accentuates these distinctive panels as the train rounds a curve as it transitions from the Wisconsin Central to the Soo Line (the former Milwaukee Road) on its way to downtown Chicago.
