After work yesterday, and before meeting a colleague for dinner, I had a little time to kill, so I took a side trip to BNSF’s yard in Eola, Illinois. I saw what I thought was a pair of leasers working on the south side of the yard, but then I noticed the BNSF swoosh on the nose. It was a so-called “smurf”, one of a few units to be patched this way.
