Rumbling down San Francisco's Market Street on June 15, 2018, is San Francisco Municipal Railway PCC car 1071, painted in the colors and markings of the Twin Cities Rapid Transit system of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota. Muni car 1071 was built in 1947 for Twin Cities Rapid Transit. It was among a group that TCRT sold to Newark, New Jersey, in 1953, operating on the Newark City Subway until replaced by modern light rail vehicles in 2001. The San Francisco Municipal Railway acquired these cars in 2004 and had them overhauled at Brookville Equipment Company. Some of the cars were put in service in early 2007, but were taken out of service for wiring problems, finally entering service once the problems were repaired - eventually.
