RP photographer John Day from Canada, who I was able to meet on the trip, already posted some beautiful photos of the FarRail Tours journey through the Western Cape province of South Africa. Now there are some others to come.
Shortly after sunrise, the 2-8-4 24 # 3655 and the 4-8-2 19D # 3322 of the Ceres Rail Company are pulling the mixed freight/passenger train on the Klawer line between Malmesbury and Kanonkop. The 24 # 3655 is owned by the Cape Western Railway Museum Trust and was leased to the Atlantic Rail, to run steam trains from Cape Town to Simonstown from 2010. The locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company (NBLC) in 1949 in a series of 100. About 20 of the 24 class were preserved till nowadays (many not operational).
