In 1911, the Boston & Maine replaced an ailing wooden trestle, which was built in the mid-1800s by the Eastern Railroad, with this current drawbridge. Next year, the MBTA plans on putting out a request to bid to replace this 118 year old bridge with a new modern and efficient one.
Here, Boston based local BO-1 crosses the drawbridge Eastbound with 5 loads for Rousselot in tow (located in Peabody, MA).
