Route of the "400" and tiger stripes? Builders photo of EJ&E #100, known as the Golden Goose. This photo was attached to a July, 1946 letter to C&NW's Chief Mechanical Engineer. It touted the performance of their new locomotive from a recent demonstration on the "J". Only 46 of the Baldwin's were built and #100 was unusual as well. It had no walkways over the pilots and used two non turbo 8 cylinder diesels instead of the turbo 6's. It was not rebuilt with EMD power as were most of the "J"'s fleet. Can you imagine this in green and yellow with tiger stripes and the Route of the "400" had the CNW bought them? Photo from my collection.
