With heavy snow and strong winds on Tuesday night, the L567 local covered the CN 5455 on their Manchester turn. A clean unit was needed in Cedar Rapids today for the L563 local. So the crew cabbed to Waterloo for power, cars, and a plow! Haven't seen much plow action on the CN the past couple winters in Iowa, and the 1st plow for this winter. The crew would hit moderate drifts on the Cedar Rapids Sub as they plowed south to Cedar Rapids. Here they past MP 13, between Ryan and Coggon. This branch can really fill in if the winter weather continues, just glad to see a plow out of the storage tracks at Waterloo!
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
