This photo reminds me of all the great photos Ian Stronach has posted from early 1970's Montreal. On one of our trips to Montreal, my father and I spent some time in Lachine where the CP Adirondack Subdivision east towards the Maritimes crosses over the CN St. Hyacinthe Subdivision east towards the Maritimes. This picture is from the south side of the bridge facing north towards North Junction and St. Luc Yard. Borrowed CP RS-18u 1853 leads a MUCTC commuter train on the Vaudreuil Subdivision over the Adirondack Subdivision on its way to Windsor Station. The connection from the Adirondack Subdivision to the Vaudreuil Subdivision veers off to the right in the foreground. One can see that there is quite a grade on this connection used by the D&H and CP passenger trains of yesteryear and Montreal Transit Corporation commuters and Amtrak today. This is my father's picture. R.T. Steinbrenner photo
