North Adams-based local ST Train AD-1 trundles south on the Adams Industrial Track past Southview Cemetery in North Adams, Massachusetts on its way to Adams to serve Specialty Minerals and Holland Chemical. Originally owned by Pan Am / Guilford (and before that, Conrail / Penn Central / New York Central, etc.), the remaining trackage of what is known today as the Adams Industrial Track is now owned by the State of Massachusetts. In addition to this Pan Am Southern local, the Berkshire Scenic Railway operates over this line (typically with their Budd RDC) on Saturdays and Sundays during their operating season. Also noteworthy, as Pan Am continues to purchase former CSX GE C40-8s and B40-8s, former Guilford EMDs such as the engine seen here are becoming increasingly rare on Pan Am trains, especially west of Portland, Maine.
