A 75 car empty coal train crosses high over the Arnold Fork Creek and highway 1498 near Hall. This is the north of two large steel trestles in the area on the EB&V (Elkhorn & Beaver Valley) Sub. This West Fork Bridge is 848 feet long and reported to be the tallest on the ex-C&O at 176 feet. This rugged section of track was built to Deane, KY, in 1948 to compete with the L&N to the local coal mines. The EB&V Sub runs out of Martin, KY, to Deane, then connects with the Rockhouse Sub out towards Hazard. This train would load next bound for Roanoke Rapids, NC.This was an old C&O Branch back in the day.
