Little over a year ago I was out in Arizona cooking to death trying to get some shots of the old ex-SP signal system that was still untouched along the Sunset Route. A westbound Global 4 stacker makes treks west in the evening past one of the few remaining cantilever signals still left on the Sunset Route back in 2017. I see alot of work has been done around this area in 2018 as progress moves on. Glad I got out here and got some stuff!
The UP Gila Sub is the ex-Southern Pacific Sunset Route that runs 255 miles from Yuma, AZ, to Tuscon, AZ. Along this route a favorite spot for photographers is the area around Wellton, 38 miles east of Yuma. Here 3 old classic ex-SP cantilever signals still guard for movements along 16 miles of double track between Wellton and Dome.
