In addition to the CSX invaders on 213, the Danville District was treated with a few other notable consists on this beautiful Tuesday morning. After waiting on P94 at Hoskins, 35Q rumbles past the now-idle Dixie Furniture plant in the Barbecue Capital of the World. The 6698 was built new for Norfolk Southern in May of 1991 and is one of the few SD60s on the roster that hasn't been placed into storage, rebuilt, or leased to another railroad.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
