Sometimes things just don't go as planned. I had often thought about catching a lengthy freight at this location but looking in the other direction. The tracks hug the shoreline and lengthy freight would look cool as they traced the coast. So I was set up facing east and just as the train arrived a small cloud did as well. Ahh, I was cloud f@#$%**, not like that has never happened before. However, as I was walking back to my car I saw this shot from the opposite end of the rock formation I had been standing on. Not the shot I came for but one I was grateful to walk away with. These containers arrived in Whittier, AK after a 7 day voyage on the barge from Seattle. Most will terminate in Anchorage but more than a few will continue to the end of the line in Fairbanks.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
