Stand behind the yellow line! An Amtrak Acela makes a surprise pass on track 4 at speed under recently restrung catenary wires supported under new constant tension supports. The Acelas normally run south (Amtrak west) on the adjacent express track but that was not possible in April as the track was placed out of service in order as Amtrak continues to restring wire under recently added constant tension supports along this stretch of line. When completed, in 2019 - perhaps, speeds between New Brunswick and Trenton should increase with Acelas running 160 mph, up from 135 mph.
Acela (US), TGV (FR), Velaro (Ger, although there are British, Chinese and Russian versions as well)
There are other systems, such as the Japanese Shinkansen.
