Serve The South
Only lacking the nose herald on both ends of the locomotive, and the Southern Rwy 5000L is completed, and ready to be put into revenue service. Southern 5000L was the very class unit for the 5000 series GP38-2 that was delivered from Electric-Motive Division to the Southern Railway in January 1972, and ran under the same road number for 44 years til it's retirement by Norfolk Southern in 2016. It is now part of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Preservation Collection, and it'll go down in the records that this is the very first GP38-2 High hood that is restored in it's original Southern Railway tuxedo black paint scheme.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
