Somewhat odd leader passes thru Dubuque on a southbound CP sand train. CP runs alot of these sand trains from the BNSF at KC to loading facilities around Tunnel City, WI, and then back to the BNSF. Not too uncommon to see run thru BNSF power on them, but the MAC is a different touch. The train seen here is working over the CN Dubuque Sub in Dubuque. The CP uses the CN to run from Dubuque Junction to Wood, about 1.5 miles.
The boat pictured here is the William M. Black, now permanently moored in the Ice Harbor. This dredge boat was one of the last steamboats built with the technology of the 1930s, the era before diesel power replaced steam. Most of this display in the Ice Harbor are for the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.
