Genesee & Wyoming has begun the assimilation process with the Providence & Worcester Railroad through the planned painting of at least a dozen locomotives. Interesting to note, GWRR has applied new reporting marks to the Providence & Worcester fleet, in the form of PWRZ, to avoid conflict with Piedmont Western Railroad (PWRR). The first PWRZ unit to be repainted emerged from the paint shop today in St. Albans, Vermont, in the form of B39-8 #3906. B40-8W 582 is in the shop next for paint and will emerge as PWRZ 4007, then the SD70M-2s 4301 and 4302 should be following. Behind the SD70M-2s are B39-8s 3901, 3903, 3905, 3907, 3909, and B40-8s 4001, 4002, and 4003.
