A overestimated snowstorm that hit the I-95 corridor on March 14 still dumped a heavy mix of snow and sleet, causing trees to fall along the entire Philadelphia Subdivision. Q031 came across a few trees between Philadelphia and Baltimore, one of which damaged the handrails on the lead locomotive.
In this scene, the train had come to a complete stop here before slowly pushing the tree aside and taking the siding at Aiken to wait for a Q296 which had a tree lodged underneath their train in Belcamp.
Along with downed trees, the switch at E. Aiken also had issues locking up to line the Q031. Overall, a pretty miserable day for the BE dispatcher and crews across the Baltimore division.
