Two weeks has passed since the Milwaukee S Curve Trestle was taken out of service, forever! Five days later the first train crossed the new concrete bridge, or at least half of what will be a double track bridge. A couple of days ago the last of the wooden trestle was reduced to splinters, a trail of which can be made out in this shot. Work has already begun on the second half of the new bridge, which in part will be constructed over the ghost of the Milwaukee Road.
Construction of the new passenger station is also making good progress and the gap in the Freighthouse Square structure has been filled in by the station. All passenger trains through Tacoma will move to this station and the new Bypass-Bypass route some time in 2017.
