A beautiful Winter's day, snow on the ground, along with mild temperatures and blue skies, saw the Grand Canyon Railway fire up both its active steam locomotives to haul a 9 car special from the Grand Canyon Village to Williams, AZ. The Railway's F40's sat in reserve while a pair of the line's classic FPA-4's were utilized for the regular train. No. 539, a 2-8-2 former SP&S locomotive, the railway's other steam locomotive, remained behind, out of service though welcoming customers at the depot in Williams. This special, captured here at the northern end of the line in Coconino Canyon, was ran for a group of railfans and photographer as part of a Lerro Productions charter.
Taking a look at the same train and scene as captured by different photographers. The best way to view will be to sort by photo date so the photos are grouped together.
