The long out of service wye was restored to use for the sole purpose of turning the business train here today. I can imagine this was a somewhat stressful endeavor for those directly involved, but the train negotiated the sharp curve without issue, other than the "Stone Gardener" pushing a few of those highway reflectors down as it backed through.
As you can see this was a rather time consuming process, as quite a line of traffic has backed up on the highway, but the spectacle was soon to be over and the thriving metropolis of Great Bend, Kansas got back to its business. Sharp eyes might also make out a tied down grain train in the distance with K&O power.
These legs of the wye connect the Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad's Great Bend and Scott City Subdivisions. The train was pulled north, and backed through the west leg before pulling back east.
